Seeing Blind

So, lately every time I've gone to bed I haven't been able to turn my mind off.  I always end up asleep eventually but it take a good 20-30 minutes of my mind wondering to various things that happened during the day or things I have to accomplish the next day or I start worrying about the next up and coming project that is due in a week and I haven't even come close to starting.  I've found this to become a problem recently because after getting ready for bed, reading my bible (sometimes rereading what I just read), and praying it's normally midnight before I actually turn my mind off, or try to really.  Today I was sitting in chapel listing to a guest speaker one of our students brought in from LA where her home church is and he was discussing how the three part of us as God's people need to come together before we can get past ourselves and do what we are called to do.  I found this to hit me deep as I have been trying to put more effort and time into my relationship with my heavenly Papa.  This message was encouraging and started my wheels turning.  I began to realize if I put my worry, doubt, and fear into Papa above then I won't have so much to worry about at night while trying to shut my mind down for the night.  After chapel I did the normal thing.  I went to lunch with friends and came back to my room where I am now.  I've just finished my application for a job I want next year and was going to start some homework to get ahead in my class at 2.  However, I hopped online for a quick second and found my self reading an old archived blog by Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley on One Tree Hill).  She was talking about the Blessing of Blindness and how taking the time to close one's eyes and just be can be such a blessing and should be done more often.  I must say I agree and I am going to put an effort into doing so more often.  I figure if I let my mind wonder, even for only ten minutes, during the day then I will probably be able to shut my ramped thoughts off at night when I'm trying to go to sleep.  Anyway here is her post if you'd like to check it out.  Her thoughts on the Blessing of Blindness are really interesting and worth taking a quick read.  Check it out.

Peace and happy mind wondering.

Holy Ostrich!

This has to be the best "Item of the Day" I've seen on hellogiggles.com in a long time! Seriously, this is crazy awesome. I can't think of anything else I would want during class; especially with 8ams every morning.  Anyway, here is the ostrich...

PS: I know I haven't been posting frequently, or much at all really, however that will change because I have many crafty things to post.  Seriously, get your hot glue gun ready!
